This project will allow me to purchase materials to make a variety of learning stations! A big part of the reading instruction time in my classroom is devoted to small group instruction, and the students participate in literacy centers while they are not working with me in small group. It is so important to me to provide students with literacy centers that are engaging and meaningful, and one way to achieve this goal is to use a variety of different, quality activities. However, these resources add up to be expensive! This is especially true with the changes in the classroom due to COVID-19. Students may not share materials, so I make individual materials for each student. I also have had to design my center activities to ensure the safety of my students, so it is more important than ever that I engage my students with new, interesting activities. Your donation will provide approximately twenty new activities that will help my current and future students grow as readers! With your help, I will purchase, laminate, cut, and prepare these activities for my students to participate in during literacy centers. One of the activities I would like to purchase is a set of sequencing puzzles that helps the students apply comprehension skills as well as phonics skills. Another activity is a game called "Secret Word" in which the students use manipulatives and picture clues to practice specific phonics skills. Students in my classroom vary greatly in their literacy needs and ability levels. As a result, I need to provide multiple opportunities for students to read, write, participate in meaningful experiences, and collaborate with others so that they can develop their ability to read and comprehend text through the use of literacy centers. Your donation will help me achieve this goal!
