My students are struggling to find the motivation to be engaged with school during distant learning and need social emotional support. They have expressed that they feel lonely and are facing a great deal of anxiety over their family's well-being. I believe the social emotional lessons these books will help with will be invaluable for my students. These books will help them process those powerful emotions and motivate them to work through these tough times. Having different cultural representation in the classroom is crucial for students feeling accepted and comfortable enough to learn, and I believe these books highlight characters that my students will identify with on a very personal level.
