It is very important for my students to have a good laptop in the classroom. I am a middle school math and social skills teacher in a low income area with at risk students. I also provide after school tutoring and my students will benefit tremendously from this laptop proposal directly; as well as my other students. Students who have access to Apple’s cutting technology will be inspired to dream beyond their surroundings. The overwhelming majority of my students receive free breakfast and lunch and do not have access to computers or Internet at home. A laptop of this caliber can provide them with access to educational software, apps, and a myriad of learning sources. Moreover, students will tangibly be able to experience what they can only dream about, which is the latest and greatest Apple product. Probably the strongest argument for the use of the Apple M1 MacBook in the classroom is increased student engagement. I work in a co-taught classroom with students with special needs who receive various accommodations based on the classification. Having an up-to date, name brand laptop creates excitement and all students will desire to join in the fun of learning. Technology can open so many doors, especially for students who don’t normally have access to the Apple Brand, due to financial hardships. Please help to make this experience a memorable experience for the underrepresented children I serve by approving my request for a laptop.
