For several hours a day students are sitting at a table or desk looking down at their Chromebooks while listening to their various teachers over Zoom or in the classroom. In middle school, students are of many different sizes. Some students are four feet, while other students are 6 feet, but the desks in which they sit are usually stationary and do not adjust. In order to bring comfortability into students’ lives during my ELA classes, I want to provide adjustable laptop stands. The stands will help to decrease eye strain and back pain for students no matter what their size. Instead of students looking down all day, they will be able to adjust the height of their Chromebook to see and do their lessons at eye-level. Using an adjustable laptop stand will be beneficial during and after the pandemic because students' dependency on Chromebooks as well as other technological devices is the new normal in our schools now. As advertised, the laptop adjustable stand can be used for a multitude of devices. So, if a student has a different device, he/she can still use the stand. The stands will most likely be utilized for many years even as technology advances. My hope is that the adjustable stands will help avoid less strain on students’ eyes and backs. For these reasons, I decided to call my project The Comfort Task for the Class.
