These materials are integral tools in making our guided reading time the most effective, engaging, and beneficial for my kindergarteners! Reading is such an important skill my students work to gain, and guided reading is the perfect time in our day that I get to work with my students in a more individualized and differentiated way. During guided reading, we not only work on a variety of reading strategies, but we work on foundational skills as well! Sight words, spelling, letters, letter sounds, digraphs, blends, vowels, writing, reading etc. are all key aspects of our time together. Each of these materials will allow for me to truly provide a guided reading time for each student that is individualized and hands-on, while also letting them have fun! The whiteboards and dry-erase markers get used in each session and multiple times within that session, like writing our sight words, letters, their answer to a reading comprehension question, etc. The magnetic board allows me to model key skills like writing sight words, practice spelling, writing, and so much more! The CVC word card and Digraph / Blends match games are great chances for students to practice sounding out and blending letter sound to build words! This builds up both decoding and blending words, helping them to become more confident readers and writers. Lastly, the dry-erase pockets allow for reusable and engaging activities that students can complete during our time of guided reading. Each material will be used daily and with much appreciation. My students love to learn and absolutely look forward to our guided reading time. I know each material will help better our time together, and make our learning more engaging and effective for each student.
