These books will continue to enhance our social justice learning unit and promote equity for all. My students are compassionate and are eager to learn about how they can help change our community and world to be more inclusive and accepting. With these new books, my students will be learn about those who fought for equality in education as well as the true story about the Mendez vs. Westminster School District, the California court case that desegregated schools for Latino children and set the stage for Brown vs. Topeka Board of Education at the national level. My students already have shown an astonishing interest in social justice, and this project will help enrich their experiences by learning about landmark court cases that made a difference in education.
