We want to explore all aspects of social justice and how it affects out lives. We will pair these novels with research, essays, and articles around both historical and modern day issues connected to race, ethnicity, equality, and how we as individuals can impact the world around us. Students will research the civil rights movement of the 1950s and 1960s, taking special notice of Dr. King’s letters, essays, and speeches. Dear Martin and Dear Justyce will be used as springboards for our social justice conversations. We will also look at modern day movements and literature as we analyze the characters of our novels as they search for their own justice and peace.
