I teach a wonderful group of students! They are smart, curious, determined, hilarious, and energetic. They are eager about learning and motivated to do well. When I saw how excited students were when it came to reading, I decided to build a library for my room. I purchased tons of books, baskets, and labels and went to work! I completed my library and quickly realized something - I didn't have enough books! Not only did I not have enough books, but unfortunately I did not have books that met the needs of the various reading levels of the students in my class. While students in third grade should be reading around levels L-P, many of my students are on levels C-M, which are grade levels kindergarten-second grade. My students have a strong desire to increase their reading skills and raise their reading levels, but they are not able to do so without being provided with the resources needed, which are books at the reading level they are currently at and beyond!
