Much to my delight, my students this school year are avid readers! Maybe it's all the time spent indoors since March; I like to say "books let you travel without moving your feet." Or maybe they've always enjoyed reading. Either way, I need to make sure they have plenty of reading material available to quench their thirst for learning whether in the classroom or stuck at home. It's been said: we lose ourselves in books, we find ourselves there too. I know books to be powerful tools for self-discovery and self-determination. Therefore, it is of the utmost importance that my class library is reflective of my students' backgrounds. They need to see what THEY are capable of when they open a book.
