Students will understand the composition of rocks and soil and explore the historical geology within them. How are rocks and fossils different on the east coast compared to the Grand Canyon? And what does this tell us about the history of Earth and its life forms? Students will go on a virtual field trip and then do lab work in class to discover differences, similarities, and historical life evidence. They will do soil testing, research, and rock identification activities. Appreciation of the beauty and richness of earthen materials and life inspires students to be curious and wonder about other areas of natural science.
