Students will maintain writing portfolios in an in-class writing lab to create, revise, and present various writing genres for relevant, critically analyzed, and universal topics. To maintain folders, the use of supplies such as paper, pens, pencils, organized writing stations, and enlarged post-it notes will assist their voices in being heard to the masses. By using laptops, laminators, and a printer, our school and community can see writing about various topics inspire, persuade, and others to be a positive change in our world. My students just need this opportunity to know that their writing will go beyond our class, similar to Ms. Erin Gruwell in the novel Freedom Writers.
