The art supplies selected will help students readjust to the classroom after distance learning by building community, while also providing more materials to keep students safe and distanced! Some of the materials selected will allow my students to work independently and have their own sets of tools, which will reduce the spread of germs. These materials include printmaking materials, painting materials, and sculpture materials. All students will have their own woodcarving tools and paintbrushes so they will not have to share with their neighbors. My art students will create a collaborative mural that will help them to feel more connected to each other, their 'Aina, school, and their community! This is especially important during a time when students are struggling to feel like they belong. The mural will have a theme of togetherness and resilience, that the students will design. Art materials will help students to have a creative outlet to destress and express their feelings in a positive way. Materials like model magic clay will help students who are tactile learners to create abstract projects and destress. Students will be able to start their projects in class and bring materials home to work on them which will provide them with more opportunities for growth.
