Our project includes three books that are connected to the next STEM project and unit that is centered around space and stars. These books will provide the students with books that they can read and make connections to the STEM content and careers that we will be learning about. The books vary from a story of a pig's love of stars to a non-fiction book on astronauts. It is my hope that our students are able to enjoy these books, share them with those around them, practice their reading, and develop a love of reading. The last book included in our collection is an Amelia Bedelia book. At the age of my students, I began to read the Amelia Bedelia book series and a whole new world of literature was opened to me. This book will help them expand their book choices, give them the start of learning literal and figurative language, give them on-level materials to read, and provide them with a hearty laugh.
