These materials will help eliminate the language barrier for my students who are eager to learn English. They have asked me for additional resources that they can engage in during the time they are not in class. They are an eager bunch who want to learn and connect with their new community. The books will be used to build their reading skills in their native language Spanish, but also to promote the acquisition of their new language, English. The books will also support their social emotional well-being since many of the books are about stories of struggle, perseverance, resilience, and determination. All characteristics that define who my students are.
