The Treehouse STEM building sets and people (multicultural and diverse) will engage the children to create many different designs and then they will be able to try out their designs using the diverse people, altering and changing their design to improve the stability. This could be used at home as I would relate to them using items in nature to design a treehouse as they did in class. The Fairy Tale sets will engage the children because they are all stories they are familiar with. They will be able to interactively create designs and plans to solve the problems in the Fairy Tales using trial and error. These could be used at home as I could have them solve the problem in a story using household materials or materials they find in nature. The other STEM activity sets will be used to engage the children into hands on learning that also meet the Minnesota kindergarten standards. These could be used at home using materials they find within the house or out in nature. All of the activities and materials create an opportunity for hands on learning, that could have extended home activities using household items or items in nature. They will be able to see what worked and what didn't and make adaptions to try for a better outcome. This will also spark their creativity at home. These products will help our students meet our Minnesota kindergarten standards. We are a Title I for everyone school and we have many children that would not have the opportunity to such activities if they were not offered in school. Thank you for your consideration! It takes a village to raise a child and even more so during these extreme and difficult times!
