I believe it is so important to instill a love of reading at a young age, even as we adapt to this new remote learning setting. Due to the pandemic, my class has opted to remain virtual for the remainder of the 2020-2021 school year. Teaching first graders to read online has proven to be challenging, but we have been exploring a variety of online resources to make it possible. My students are resilient problem-solvers, but it sometimes can be hard to make learning fun and meaningful over Zoom. Help me to put real books into my first graders hands that will not only help them grow as readers, but that will also get them excited about the joy of reading! I have chosen these books based on a topic that is so important to each of my students - kindness! I hope that delivering these books to my student's homes will spread positivity and joy this holiday season. We will also be able to discuss the new exciting stories each child read while we were apart over break!
