Have you ever sat in a 2nd grade classroom? If not, let me tell you, it is a lot of fun but it is not conducive to sitting in a chair and simply paying attention to the teacher. I search for ways to get my students out of their seats, change their body positions, and keep their minds actively engaged so they can absorb and immerse themselves in our class lessons. These materials will provide me with the tools to write visual examples on an easel, give their little hands the opportunity to use math manipulatives, and help me teach their emotional health as well. Students are not just learning academic subjects in school all day, they are also learning how to interact with each other in appropriate ways as well as how to handle their own big emotions in healthy ways. By getting them out of their seats, allowing them to move around the classroom, and change their perspective, I have the opportunity to address a variety of learning styles and situations. With your help, I will be able to be the teacher that I need to be for my students.
