One positive outcome of this pandemic is that learners with scheduled medications are missing less instructional time. Prior to COVID, learners would leave class and walk to the Health Room for scheduled medications. If nursing staff was unavailable, they would have to wait, sometimes several minutes to receive their medication. In an effort to decrease exposure to illness, we have started delivering medications to learners just outside of their classroom, resulting in a significantly less amount of time that they are out of their educational environment. We plan to continue this practice even once things return to "normal", but we need a more functional medication cart to do so.
Our current medication cart does not meet our needs. It is too small to adequately hold all of our scheduled medications and supplies. The lock is unreliable and has progressively gotten worse. This cart is also so loud that it is distracting to learners and teachers alike when we push it in the halls. The current cart was clearly not designed for our purposes and is not likely to hold up during this school year, let alone in years to come.
We understand that this seems very expensive for a medication cart, but it's actually one of the cheapest that we have been able to find.
