Due to their ASD diagnosis, some obstacles to learning my students struggle with include deficits in joint attention skills, expressive and receptive language, daily living skills, and task duration. These deficits make it difficult for them to access curriculum. It is extremely difficult to teach them solely using on screen materials. They need in hand, tangible items that correspond with on screen materials. These materials will allow me to make and provide my students with adapted books, social individualized social stories, task boxes, and file folders. I will be able to send products I’ve either made or purchased home to my students to use during DL. Additionally, I will be able to create materials that are specific to each child and align with their IEP goals. I will also be able to provide their parents with training materials on how to implement interventions at home.
