I have a very diverse group of students. My goal is to fill my classroom library with books they can ALL see themselves in. I am a first year teacher and was given plenty of books with animals as the main characters and characters who look like me. Now, I need to get books that have characters that look like my kids. Too often, children don't see themselves represented in the stories they read. My goal is to change that in my room. I want my students to feel seen, heard, cared for & like they can do anything. Helping me to get these books will do just that. My students will have books that represent diversity and themselves. Thank you!
