The books will enhance my students' interest in reading. The selection of books features characters that are deaf or hard of hearing. This gives students who are deaf or hard of hearing the opportunity to see themselves in literary books. Students who are deaf or hard of hearing do not often have the opportunity to read texts that they can relate to in this personal way. With these new books, students will be able to choose from a variety of books to read that have characters who are deaf or hard of hearing. These additional books to my existing library have been selected to provide students with experiences of characters who are similar to them. Students will be able to choose these books, which will continue to promote independent reading and increase their love for reading.
