Teaching is more than telling, and learning mathematics is more than memorizing formulas and procedures. Learning math is about making sense of the world around us through meaningful experiences. The items I'm requesting will improve these experiences for my students in Integrated Math 3. With these items, my students will have the opportunity to improve their mathematical understanding and develop their mathematical identities. Students will be able to explore geometric properties using the compasses and tangram sets, and students will have opportunities to create mathematical representations and show their mathematical thinking using the graphing whiteboards and dry-erase markers. With the use of the Adonit Dash 3 stylus, I will be able to better demonstrate mathematical concepts to students learning from home, and the Heart of Mathematics textbook will allow me to design lessons based on real-world contexts and encourage students to explore social justice issues through a mathematical lens.
