Most of my students speak a language other than English at home. Some have only been in the U.S. for a matter of months and cannot yet understand or speak English. For them, the science investigations we do are their primary source of conceptual understanding. Our classes are large and still growing. We are a neighborhood school (anyone local can attend) that also happens to be IB certified. We use a Science program that has considerably more lab time than other programs in the district, but we are still missing some key materials.
