With distance learning it has been challenging for students to interact and get to know each other and me. We started out the year 'distance-learning' and then students were offered the chance to come back. We have been doing hybrid learning for the last two weeks only to learn today that we need to go back to 100% distance learning again. This has devastated the students that came back since we had just started to build a community and were able to build a bridge between those at home and those here. I am requesting a color printer and ink. My goal with this project, is to be able to print out all of my students' personal word clouds from this year (they had to come up with the things that meant the most to them or described them the most) and post them at 'their' desks so that they know that they still have a place here in the classroom with me (whether they are here physically or distanced at home). This will help to give them a sense of belonging, being seen as a part of a bigger group and being celebrated for the individuals that they are. At the end of the year (whether they are distanced or not) I will then be sending them their word clouds as a reminder of who they are this year and as a reminder of what has made them be an important piece of my class.
