My students and I agree, we must rescue our bullhead catfish and give them a bigger home!! That is why we are asking for the 45 gallon aquarium kit, stand, and gravel. The students will continue to take care of these fish and keep the tank clean. All my students are bright, kind, and capable but the traditional classroom does not always meet their needs. The goal of my underwater classroom is to create a place where students can thrive academically and emotionally. I discovered last year what an aquarium can do for students. It can take a student with significant behavior challenges and give them a sense of purpose and responsibility. It can calm them when they are stressed. It can engage students and create opportunities for student-driven learning. During distance learning it can help students feel connected to the school. My current distance learners are always asking to see the bullhead catfish. These fish are so important to the students and I want to ensure the fish have the tank they need to continue to survive so my students can continue to thrive!
