These iPads will make a tremendous impact on teaching, communicating, and learning for my students. They will gain a voice and be able to communicate their wants and needs. The iPads would help us use AAC modeling to teach our students how to effectively communicate. As a special education teacher of students with autism, I need to be able to model AAC communication in order for my students to learn how to use their devices. Students who do not have devices yet will also benefit from being able to practice on the iPads and begin the process of learning this new language.
