One of the most important parts of early childhood learning is cooperative learning. This year, that is increasingly more difficult during distanced learning. I am working in a hybrid school, doing some lessons in person and some on the computer. Students are so excited to be back in the classroom, even just part-time. My goal is to be able to safely conduct more small group activities with students on their in-person days! For a more hands-on learning experience, I love to have students work together on games reinforcing the concept taught. With the use of a shield between them for protection, they can play some partner games again! For example, buddy reading is something that the students really miss. With the use of a clear protective shield between them, students can read with each other again. The switching back and forth between learning at home and learning at school can be very confusing for students. To help ease that transition, I teach from within the classroom even on virtual days. I would really love to be able to hang anchor charts and other materials directly on the board behind my computer to provide even more continuity for students.
