The materials that I requested will engage my students inside and outside of our classroom. I've requested math manipulatives, indoor and outdoor games to promote movement, and social/emotional skills, instructional materials, picture books, critical thinking, and problem-solving resources, coding, and MORE! Engaging our learners is paramount! Fifty percent of our students qualify for free and reduced lunches. Their families want their children to be successful and work hard to provide resources for them. Our classrooms need to continue to make learning fun and accessible to all. Research supports the connection between student engagement and its impact on achievement, positive behaviors, and promoting a sense of community in our classrooms. This is especially important in classrooms with students who are considered socio-economically disadvantaged and at-risk.
