The students I work with face hurdles on a daily basis that can affect their every day lives. I have student who have academic concerns such as reading and math, to sensory needs. All student are provided with the same style of Chromebook, but this doesn't always meet the needs of the user. Having the right tools in the hands of the students will help them complete assigned tasks and achieve their goals. Our goal is to teach students strategies to help them problem solve and use different tools to support their learning. A tool could be as simple as a weighted pencil to a completely different workspace with flexible seating. Students are provided with a Chromebook, but access to additional equipment will help to enhance and enrich their academic experience. Headphones with a built in microphone would help with speech to text accessibility, and access to a larger display would encourage collaboration.
