I am requesting leveled readers for my Spanish 1 students. With COVID-19, I cannot reuse the books I have and keep students safe. With additional books, they can each have one, and then we can quarantine them like the library. This allows my students to build essential reading skills while staying safe. In the last few years, we had free voluntary reading time each class period, but I had to quit this year. I am excited to be able to offer free time for reading again. It is so important to their language development. Their confidence skyrockets when they finish a book and see that they can really read Spanish on their own. The clipboards will allow me to keep them on task and have them share out about what they read quickly and efficiently while staying safe.
