Students will engage and interact with these modern, contemporary texts about current events and real-life issues they face on a day-to-day basis. They will connect various movements they read about with other historic examples and their own lives and experiences. Day to day throughout this book project unit, students will actively engage with one another to inform, inquire, and connect over shared experiences and as co-creators of knowledge. Most importantly, all students will see themselves represented and reflected in the history curriculum as important, valued, and heard. All students will be empowered to use their own voices to make a change.
