I just finished student teaching, and I got hired as a new 4th grade teacher. My students' previous teacher resigned over Fall Break, and so they have had to go through a lot of change in just a few short weeks. I plan to have my students use the padded stools at a small table for centers or for small group work. They'll use Post-it notes for different Kagan cooperative learning activities. They'll have fun with the pipe cleaners during different art and STEM activities. The fraction linking cubes will be helpful when I teach my class about fractions. I know that this visual aid with be especially beneficial to my visual learners. I want to make my classroom a place of refuge for my students. I want them to feel comfortable and safe there. I plan to do a Harry Potter theme, and incorporate several things from the books and movies into my classroom. I want the students to be excited to come to school every day. I feel like if I have an organized and well supplied room, I can focus on my students more because I won't be distracted by what my classroom lacks.
