These social emotional books with characters will help students who are struggling with anxiety, depression, ADD/ADHD because they can connect with the characters that are experiencing the actual mental health challenge that they face everyday at home, school, or in their communities. Other students find inspiration from reading sad but hopeful books where the lead character perseveres and succeeds despite any mental health issues and trials that life throws at them. These books tackle mental health in a way that is relatable to the students I teach and will help them with their social emotional development.
