Dramatic play is one of my go to learning styles within my primary autistic support classroom. Students in my classroom often learn best when they are able to explore objects and experiences hands on. Whether it be cooking with pretend food, moving the hands around a physical clock to figure out the time, or counting out how many dollar bills and coins are needed to purchase an item, dramatic play allows students to take part in experiences they will continue to use as they grow. Our school district has been closed for in person instruction since March of 2020 and they have just recently announced the continued closure through February of 2021. I want to bring my students the opportunity to utilize dramatic play items in their home and when they Zoom. Each student has selected a Puppet Pal (a hand puppet of their choice) which I will be sending to their homes, and it is my hope to include the items from Lakeshore along with each puppet so that students can act out and take part in the dramatic play experience.
