Imagine being an adult with a full-time job, children of your own, living in a new country, AND on top of all of that, learning a new language! These are obstacles our students face on a daily basis. Our goal is to open up libraries for our student to borrow books from. While they could visit a public library, our school libraries would be accessible to them and their particular needs. We are literally building school libraries from scratch for our different Sacramento sites and need help with stocking them with interesting books that our students will be able to engage with. We have students from countries all around the world--Mexico, Russia, China, Afghanistan, El Salvador--the list goes on and on! Some start by learning to simply introduce themselves in English, while others are on to more advanced concepts. No matter what their level, all of them will benefit from having a library with a vast variety of books that will help them practice their flourishing English skills.
