These books will allow students to get excited about reading because they will get the opportunity to see children that are similar to themselves in the literature. These will start out in our new middle school book club, and then be available to my ELA students for their independent reading time. I think it is important for students to be able to read stories about children they can relate to. The large sticky note pads will help us to have small group share-outs about each book. This will give students the opportunity to learn from each other make recommendations to each other based on what they're interested in.
