As a Library Media Specialist, I have created a small Makerspace in our Library that serves students in grades 7-12. Makerspace is utilized by many different teachers on campus to make learning more fun! Students are given opportunities to use Makerspace equipment for class projects (as well as given free tinker time throughout the day). We have two very small 3D printers that met our 3D printing needs at the beginning of our Makerspace. However, now that more and more teachers are utilizing our equipment, our small 3D printers can't do everything students need them to or keep up with the demand. This new 3D printer will allow students to be even more creative and problem solve! They will be able to create bigger projects, use more types of filament, and print two colors at once (this will be a HUGE hit). My goal is that through learning new technologies, my students will become more independent and gain higher-level thinking skills.
