Our students are living in virtual world right now. We would like to get some books into their hands. In our kindergarten we are reading language rich books to our students every day. We would like them to have some books to start creating a library of their own at home. We want them to experience the incredible feeling of holding, looking at and eventually reading their own books. We are hoping to inspire a special bedtime/anytime reading experiences with our children's families. The books we have chosen are books that the students may have heard in class, but are beloved stories for young children. We want our students to have the experience of being the teacher and "reading" the books to their siblings, stuffed toys and pets. We know that children who have books at home have a higher probability of becoming a better reader. We also know the more often a child is read to influences learning outcomes and test scores.
