The population of students at my school includes low-income families. Simple requests, like having students write or draw on paper are not available. I often feel limited with what I can assign because I want to keep equity in mind. I find myself telling them to write on anything they have, perhaps the inside of an empty cereal box or something they can find in the trash or recycling bin. I also find myself assuming they have something to write with, which is not always the case. I want to continue to have my students write, draw, and color so they can continue to develop their fine motor skills and work with their hands, rather than always using digital tools. It is nice to task them with things that do not require a screen and clicks. These materials will provide the best support for the teaching and learning process with my students being at home.
