Due to Covid-19, students in my jewelry and metal work class are limited to what they can make from home. My school was generous in the fall and purchased every art student a small pack of supplies. They were given wire and pliers. If you have ever seen a full jewelry studio, there are torches, hammers, saws, and all sorts of awesome tools. So much of what they would normally do isn't possible from home. With these a steel bench block and a chasing hammer, they could learn so much more about working with metal. They would be able to use these tools for the entire Spring semester. They will learn how to add texture to metal. They will also learn how to use cold connections like rivets to connect different pieces of metal. They can not learn to solder from home, but these 2 tools will allow them to learn so much more then they were able to learn this Fall.
