There are so many components of a reading lesson, and the materials I have chosen will help with small group learning. This is a time that helps focus instruction for students with shared areas of need. At the beginning of the year in kindergarten, a lot of this focus is on learning the alphabet. When learning early reading concepts, students need multiple experiences to help solidify their learning. Some people ask me "what do you even do in kindergarten, babysit?" It is so much more than that. Learning the alphabet is not only a catchy song, but also about writing, letter sounds, being able to recognize the letters, combining letters to make words, and more. Strong early childhood education is a huge stepping stone for success in later grades.
