I believe that students should read books from local authors so they can see that they themselves, can do something great. Farah Naz Rishi, the author of "I Hope You Get This Message" is from Philadelphia and I would love for students to read her work. It is imperative that students can see others like themselves succeed. Having students read authors from the same area can build confidence in their own reading and writing abilities. It also empowers them to write their own stories about their own experiences and share them with the world.
