My students will use this device to help them increase their expressive communication skills. My students have trouble forming words and sentences that can sometimes prevent us from identifying what it is they need. Using a communication device can help them to express to us when they are in need of something or allow them to participate in their everyday learning. Students will use this iPad to increase their ability to communicate effectively their wants and needs and it will give them increased access to interacting with the curriculum. They can let us know when they are dysregulated, hungry, sad, tired, or excited. This can help us to respond to their needs accordingly and help improve their overall experience in the classroom. Having an easy and customizable way for them to communicate can help them to feel at ease when they otherwise wouldn't. The communication device can also be used to participate in their daily curriculum. Students can use the device to count, identify letters, shapes, numbers, and various other items we'll encounter when learning. They can use customized communication pages that allow them to directly respond to the material we are covering and provide key details in stories or answer comprehension questions. The uses for something like this will continue to grow as students become more familiar with how to operate the software.
