Technology is a daily tool used in our life skills classroom and especially now for my remote learners. Tablets not only help the students in my classroom with expressive communication, but they also help with social skills acquisition, activities of daily living, and behavioral goals. The students are highly motivated by technology and are able to complete academic tasks that they might otherwise struggle with when given a paper and pencil activity. Independence with leisure activities are also a huge part of our daily learning. With tablets, my students are able to make choices and work on time management while doing an activity that they enjoy. Tablets can take away the frustration of mouse pad usage and the struggle with keyboard skills that can pose challenges for students when accessing applications on their own. They can easily access apps with simple touching and dragging. Tablets are a great mobile tool that can be used for my remote learners at home, too!
