Graphic novels will help my English language learners to see and read English in an enjoyable way. I want my students to be immersed in English language all day and not just during formal, explicit instruction. Graphic novels are visually engaging for all age groups. I would love for my students to enjoy graphic novels as independent reading and shared reading activities. These books model sequential story telling in story board format. Students can then create their own writing pieces that include images and text as a scaffold as they accumulate new reading and writing skills and vocabulary.
