The yoga balls and donuts will also allow the students to get out the wiggles all first graders have. My students are very active and sitting still is a hard skill for them. Flexible seating will help them learn how to sit and do work while getting out wiggles. First graders are still learning how to write, and often lack confidence when they know a mark will stay on the page. The digital writing tablets will allow my first graders to practice handwriting and math skills without the pressure of not being able to easily fix mistakes as pencil and paper do. They also cut down on waste created by used up dry erase markers required for traditional whiteboards. Finally, the reading overlays and Magic Tree House books will help the students stay interested in the story and concentrate as they follow along on the page.
