The need for students to see critical annotating and instructional strategies that are modeled appropriately is vital for student success. It is not enough for teachers to simply tell students how to do something but we must literately show them. Imagine learning how to walk, ride a bicycle or tie your shoes without someone showing you how to. This is why when introducing new concepts and reinforcing old ones, teachers need appropriate technology like a document camera, where you can teach and model in a way that the entire class can see how something should be done. I believe that when reviewing after a test students learn best what strategies to use when they are modeled and they can see how even comprehension questions with a passage should be worked. By giving students these types of support in instruction academic success can be achieved for all students.
