We are seeing an unprecedented number of students this year who have experienced a loss of a parent or primary caregiver. We plan to give students who experience loss this year, grief bags, to help support them during this. It's typical if we lose zero to three parents in a whole year. We have seen that already within the first two weeks. It is crucial that children do not feel alone when they lose someone who is one of the most important people in their lives. This donation will help us meet them where they are at. The grief bags will include a small stuffed animal or heart (the school's mascot), a book that is provides support for the bereavement journey for that child, and a list of local resources for the student and family. Thank you for contributing to such a important cause. You are promoting a health grief process for children as they grieve a close loved one, something we hope no child has to endure.
