Building a reading community can create an extra layer of belonging that high school students need. Giving students access to more accessible novels helps them learn that they are not alone. There’s always someone or something to relate to. These materials will be using in class to support and foster a love of reading no matter the reading level. Having relatable titles and subjects makes it much easier to engage readers when they already have an aversion to reading. Having works by more than one author helps them find which author’s style they might enjoy best.

About my class
