The carpet will create a larger space for carpet time. Not only will everyone be able to sit on the carpet but they will be able to be spaced further a part. Currently, the students are very close together which causes problems at times. Some students even sit on the cold tile in order to have more space. Carpet time is an important aspect of a younger elementary classroom. Engagement increases when they are at the carpet rather than at desks. They can see pictures of storybooks better and they are more involved in the learning process.
